Tour Guide/Performer

Alaska Amphibious Tours (The Ketchikan Duck Tour) is looking for a Tour Guide/Narrator/Performer for the upcoming season! The Ketchikan Duck Tour is a 90 minute tour — half on land and half on water.

As a tour narrator your main objectives are to be informative, pleasant and upbeat as you guide your passengers through the city of Ketchikan and Tongass Narrows.

Deckhand responsibilities include assisting with any emergencies that may arise including but not limited to “Man- Overboard”, First Aid, and CPR. Additional duties include providing the safety speech at the onset of each tour, merchandise sales, answering questions, assisting passengers on/off the DUCK, and aiding the captain as needed.

Details of the position are as follows:
Title: Tour Narrator
Pay: DOE plus tips
Position: Seasonal May through September
Hours: Average 35-40 hours per week

JOB SUMMARY
Narrate 90 minute tour through the city of Ketchikan and Tongass Narrows. While on the water you are filling the role of deckhand aboard a Coast Guard inspected marine vessel.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Ability to provide accurate passenger counts and maintain precise ticket counts.
  • Keep open communication with general manager and assist with the departure of the DUCK.
  • A broad knowledge of Ketchikan and area; also the State of Alaska as a whole.
  • Convey a sense of professionalism in both demeanor and appearance.
  • Speak clearly and accurately through the microphone
  • Be able to stand for long periods of time with the ability to balance in a moving vehicle both on land and in the water

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years or older & have a current CPR/First Aid Certification. Must pass a drug test before employment and at random throughout the entire season.

Sales Representative

Alaska Amphibious Tours (The Ketchikan Duck Tour) is looking for a Sales Representative for the upcoming season! The Ketchikan Duck Tour is a 90 minute tour — half on land and half on water.

As a sales representative, your main objective is to promote the Ketchikan DUCK Tour and Alaska Hummer Adventures and complete ticket sales per tour availability.  Third-party tour sales may be required when AAT & AHA tours are sold out. Applicants must be informative, pleasant, and upbeat as they inform guests of the tour options available.

Hours: Average 35-40 hours per week

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years or older. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work in all types of weather. Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and operate a radio.

Applicants must be friendly, energetic, self-motivated, & able to complete tasks independently. Must be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts, weekends, and holidays and able to work outside in inclement weather conditions.

Captain

Alaska Amphibious Tours (The Ketchikan Duck Tour) is looking for Captains for the upcoming season! The Ketchikan Duck Tour is a 90 minute tour- half on land and half on water.

JOB SUMMARY
Navigate DUCK boat through the city streets of downtown Ketchikan and the Tongass Narrows while conducting 90-minute tours.

Responsibilities

A professionally qualified, experienced tradesperson, as well as a commander of a vessel. As a captain, your main objectives are to complete a vehicle inspection of the DUCK every morning prior to arriving on the dock, oversee the safety of your passengers and crew, and navigate the roads and narrows of Ketchikan during your assigned tours within the allotted time frame.

Be informative, pleasant, and upbeat as you interact with your passengers. Other duties include, but are not limited to, giving the safety speech at the onset of each tour, answering questions, assisting passengers on/off the DUCK, and ensuring the DUCK is attended at all times.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Complete vehicle inspection every morning and proactive maintenance every evening.
  • Safely navigate city streets and waterway of the Tongass Narrows.
  • Provide accurate passenger counts and maintain precise ticket counts.
  • Keep open radio communication with general manager and assist with departure of the Duck.
  • Convey a sense of professionalism in both demeanor and appearance.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of a 25 ton Masters license and a CDL w/Passenger Endorsement, CPR/First Aid Certification, Medical Examiner’s certificate, Marine Radio Operators Permit, & provide a copy of a current DMV Record.

Must be able to assist in safety drills and vehicle inspections.

Must pass a drug test before employment and at random throughout entire season.

Dock Representatives

Alaska Amphibious Tours (The Ketchikan Duck Tour) is looking for a Dock Representative for the upcoming season! The Ketchikan Duck Tour is a 90 minute tour — half on land and half on water.

As a dock representative, your main objectives are to be informative, pleasant and upbeat as you greet passengers, direct them to the tour loading area, and serve as a liaison between the operations manager and the various ship representatives/shore excursion managers.

JOB SUMMARY

Provide tour information, assist passengers as needed, and communicate effectively with the ship representatives and management team for updated passenger counts and tour bookings.
